What the fee field is for

When a client pays you in another currency, the money rarely arrives at the rate you see on a converter. The bank or platform converts at a worse rate and may take a fee on top. Together that is often a few percent of every payment.

Type your real total cost into the fee field — for example 3% — and the converter shows what will actually land in your account.

How the conversion works

All rates are quoted against the US dollar. To convert between any two currencies, the amount is turned into dollars and then into the target currency: amount ÷ rate of “from” × rate of “to”. The same math and the same rates are used in the MoneyWorks Lite app.

Common questions

Why does my bank give me less than this converter shows?

This converter shows the mid-market rate — the midpoint between buying and selling prices. Banks and payment platforms usually convert at a slightly worse rate and may add a fixed or percentage fee on top. Enter that cost in the fee field to see what actually arrives.

How do I find the real fee I pay on a transfer?

Compare what the client sent with what landed in your account, both in one currency at the same day's rate. The gap, as a percentage of the amount sent, is your real total cost — rate margin and fees together. Use that number in the fee field next time.

How often are the exchange rates updated?

Once a day. The date of the last update is shown under the converter. For tax or accounting records, use the rate your bank actually applied, not a reference rate.

Can I track income in several currencies?

Yes. MoneyWorks Lite records each payment in the currency it arrived in and shows your totals in one currency, with the same rates as this converter.
